If you run Flex Builder on a different installation, make sure you start the Eclipse from the Applications menu. Otherwise, it could be that Flex Builder is messing things up.<br /><br />Also, to open the PHP perspective you have to go to [Window]->[Open Perspective]->[Other...]<br /><br />I myself am using Eclipse PDT daily on 3 different Ubuntu 10.04 setups, one of which is 32-bit.
